Innocence

INNOCENCE

There is a street in this town

Where the children play all day.

They like to sing

And play their life ambitions.

The rhymes don’t make much sense.

The words are funny.

The words are cruel,

But they sing them anyway.

Walk with me down the street.

Listen to the voice

Echoing in your head.

Play the games we knew so well.

Find innocence in laughter.

Alice on the wall, Donald in her hand.

Little miss Muffet with a spider on her tuffet.

Smiling at The Grand Old Duke,

Who’s marching up the hill.

Trolls and fairies in our dreams.

Knights in shining armour.

Princes, thieves and monsters.

All of them in our imagination.

Walk with me down the street.

Listen to the voice

Echoing in your head.

Play the games we knew so well.

Find innocence in laughter.
